Refreshing Kirkby
Renova schemes have a proven track record in improving patient access to a wider range of community health services. Just as importantly, we can help GP Practices to increase their revenue and the range of services they can offer.
Increasing patient lists and improving access
Renova works closely with GPs to create purpose-built facilities that genuinely boost patient lists and broaden access. As a result, recruitment and retention of staff are also enhanced. The Renova approach means GPs can help to mould a facility to best suit their needs and those of their patients. Because we've been involved in developing many different primary care facilities, Renova has used its extensive experience to create a comprehensive design guide. This highly flexible template is key to providing efficient, versatile facilities that deliver high levels of staff and patient satisfaction.
We also work directly with individual GP practices in creating new facilities. Knowing that every practice is different, and that each will have differing requirements in terms of risk and investment, Renova has developed a variety of models that can be tailored to suit very specific needs.
Effective partnership in practice
Renova designed and built Tower Hill Primary and Community Resource Centre in Kirkby, Knowsley. The state-of-the-art facility has replaced a run-down 1970s surgery in very poor condition, and also transformed the local environment.
Tower Hill Primary and Community Resource Centre comprises:
- Two GP practices
- Pharmacy
- Primary Care Trust services
- Community Centre
- Dental surgery
- Three all-weather sports pitches
What the partners say
"The new surgery makes life a whole lot easier for patients and staff. Our previous surgery was a 1970's ugly single storey building, it was very isolated, a scar on the local community really. So when the PCT approached us, along with a neighbouring surgery and asked us to move, it wasn't a difficult decision."
"The facility has brought us into the heart of the community, we now have a dentist, a community centre, a school and sports facilities all in one area. And it now appeals to all ages of the community."
"The new facility is much more modern, fully integrated with the latest technology and linked to all other facilities, like the pharmacy, so it makes it much easier to monitor our targets. Access has improved 100%, which is fantastic. The transition from our old surgery to the new facility was managed very well, and Renova were very responsive to our needs."

What the people say
Ann Hardwick, Staff
"It's brilliant! Where I was before was absolutely awful, there was barbed wire on the fences, it was like being in jail! Here it is bright, fresh, clean, much better for the patients."
Jeanette Kemp, 37, Whiston
"It's lovely, nice and clean and very airy." "My old surgery was tiny, here there is much more seating and having a pharmacy is really useful."
Margaret Currie, Health Visitor, Tower Hill Health Centre
"It's a lot easier being on one site. There are lots of different professions and it's more social. It's nice and clean, and the clients find the services good. I was based at the old Tower Hill surgery, there was barbed wire around all the fences, not a very friendly environment to work in!"
Melissa McCabe, 27, Aigburth
"The new centre is nice and open, airy, a much nicer environment. It gives a positive outlook to the community, and with multi-agencies, which is good."
Christina Costello, patient
"I'm really happy, it's beautiful. There is nothing I would change, it suits me down to the ground all being under one roof. Great for the community."
John Ford, Duty Supervisor, Community Centre
"It's good, everything is newer, slicker, more efficient. In fact the group that run the art class like it so much that they are going to arrange to fund the class themselves!"
Cathie Hastie, District Nurse Manager
"Here, the patients are much happier and they can access the building easier. It's a joy to come to work here."
